Sweet Crepes Recipe
Calorie: 145 calories per serving
Preparation & Cooking Time: 1 hour 45 minutes (approx.)
It’s time for some whisk and swirl as your kitchen is filled with the aroma of butter and caramel. Here, I am sharing a recipe for eight people. You can make changes in the quantity of the ingredients if you are making the delicacy for more or less people.
How To Make Sweet Crepes At Home
- First, take two eggs, one and fourth cups of whole milk, 120 grams or 1 cup of flour, 4 teaspoons granulated sugar, and 1/4th teaspoon of kosher salt. Blend all the elements together with 3-4 tablespoons of butter (melted).
- Next, keep the mixture inside your refrigerator. You can store the mixture for a minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of two days.
- Take a skillet pan and melt some butter in it. Keep the flame medium so that the butter does not get burnt. I take around ½ teaspoon of cold butter here. If needed, you can always use some more butter.
- Once the butter melts, take 1/4th cup of the batter you made and pour it into the pan. Then tilt the pan in a circular motion or use a small ladle so that the batter spreads evenly on the pan.
- After around 45 seconds, one side of the crepe will turn golden brown. Then, flip the crepe and fry it until the other side is also done.
- Fold the crepe using a spatula. If you are not confident about folding the crepe, you can just fold it and serve.
To serve the crepes, you can use fresh fruits and berries. You can also experiment with the filling. If you go through French crepes recipes, you will have a lot of ideas about how you can fill a crepe with melted chocolate, strawberry and cream mash or other beautiful mixtures.
I love the filling of Nutella and serve the same with ripe banana slices.
Expert Tip
To elevate your crepes a little, you can add some vanilla extract to the batter. However, do not crowd the batter with too many ingredients, as it may make it difficult for you to get the texture right.
The best crepe will be a great fusion of a thin texture, and it needs to get folded easily. You cannot make it as thick as a pancake.
Gluten Free Crepes Recipe
Calories: 86 Calories
Cooking & Preparation Time: 40-45 minutes
If you want to reduce the calorie count of your crepes recipe, you can go for a gluten-free recipe. Let’s find out how to make it.
- First, take one cup of gluten-free flour. Use the flour of a known brand if you have gluten intolerance. You can try a buckwheat crepes recipe this way. Other flour variations to try for this recipe are almond flour, amaranth flour, etc.
- Then, mix the flour with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and a pinch of salt. However, if you want to reduce the calorie count even more, you can replace granulated sugar with honey. Also, if you are using salted butter, avoid adding the extra salt.
- Mix the flour again with two eggs, 1 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, and some water. Be careful about the quantity of water. You should add as much as required to get the consistency right.
- Once the mix is ready, keep it in the refrigerator for around 40-45 minutes.
- Add some butter to a skillet pan and let it melt. Then, add 1/4th cup of the mixture to the pan. Tilt the pan in a circular motion for the even distribution of the batter.
The crepes will get ready within one minute, and each side needs to have a brown texture. That’s it! You can now serve the crepes with banana slices, berries, and grapes.
Savory Crepes Recipe

It’s time to check out an easy savory crepe recipe to appease your palette. Here, I am sharing a recipe for 14 filled crepes.
I have already shared how to make the batter for crepes. So, here I will only discuss about the filling. I am making a filling of garlic and chicken. However, you can make the same filling with mushrooms if you want.
How To Make Chicken And Garlic Filling For Crepes?
- Take around two and a half cups of shredded chicken and 4/5 cloves of garlic.
- Now, heat two tablespoons of butter in a pan and add finely sliced onion (two tablespoons) to it. Once the onion slices are caramelized, add finely chopped garlic to it. Now, after around 40 seconds of stirring, add the shredded chicken and cook it for around 5-10 minutes.
- Add pepper and salt for seasoning.
That’s it! Once the filling is ready, put it inside while folding a crepe.
Final Words
The most challenging part of getting a crepes recipe right is making the batter with the right consistency. If you are making the batter very thin, the crepes will not turn out well and even get stuck to the pan. Further, if you are making the batter very thick, it will become like a pancake in taste and texture.
Also, be mindful about the use of sugar in the batter, as if you are using sugar excessively in the batter, you will have problems in flipping the crepes. The crepes will get stuck to the pan.
So, whenever trying a sweet or savory recipe for crepes, be particular about the measurements and ratio of the ingredients.
Hopefully, you find the recipes I have shared helpful and don’t forget to share if you have a family secret for making crepes.
